FAQ

[If you have any questions, others will probably want to know also. Please use the Contact button above to email them to us and we will find the answer and post the response here]

  • Q.   Where is the Registration site?

  • A.   http://www.1rar.asn.au/eventsregister/11833/
  • Q.  Why do I need to register each person attending separately?

  • A.   You need to register every adult, who requires access to Lavarack Barracks, separately for security identification purposes. That means click this link once for each adult and complete the details asked. The information required to streamline the access to the Barracks is asked for during registration of each individual. Sorry about that but security is security.

  • Q.   When I try and register my wife my registration comes up. How do I register my wife so I can provide the same ID info as for me?

  • A.   This situation will only occur if you are logged in as a Member of the 1RAR Association. Log Out and then enter her details, just as anyone who is not a member of the Association is registering anyone.
  • Q.   How do I register other adults traveling with me?

  • A.   When you register each person by clicking this link once per person and completing the details, you will find several different types of membership that allow for you and other adults traveling with you to register (this means you register your partner by clicking the link again and selecting the Partner Registration type). The Registration Types are:
    • Coral Veteran attending the Regimental Dinner - $40
    • Coral Veteran NOT attending Regimental Dinner - Free
    • Partner of Coral Veteran - Free
    • Other veteran / ex-1RAR (requesting to attend the Regimental Dinner) - $40 (refundable if no space left)
    • Other veteran / ex-1RAR (NOT requesting to attend the Regimental Dinner) - Free
    • Partner of other veteran / ex-1RAR member - Free
    • Guest of veteran / ex-1RAR Member - Free
  • Q.   I have a carer, can I bring my carer to the Regimental Dinner?

  • A.   Every Coral Veteran will be assigned a soldier to be with him all night and this soldier will be capable of minimal duties as a carer. If more support is required for the Coral Veteran then you need to send an email with the details of the level of care required. We will in the first instance assign a combat first aider as the soldier assigned, or if necessary a medic. Only after all these options are exhausted will we permit carers to attend. If you are not a Coral Veteran and therefore there is no soldier automatically assigned to you for the evening then we will arrange for one to be assigned for the night, if you can explain to us the need. Same escalation as for Coral Veterans will apply. General rule however, will be if non-Coral veteran requires a carer beyond an assigned soldier then priority for seating will go to those who do not require a carer for the other limited seats (other than those guaranteed to Coral Veterans).
  • Q.   I'm not planning to bring a car, is there any transport to events?

  • A.   Yes. The transport pickup point and schedule plan is evolving, but we have busses booked. We have a draft plan on the website. There is also a map of Townsville with key sites for the Coral50 Week, especially for those who may not be familiar. As we refine the plan we'll post more details. Most of the hotels in Townsville are located along the proposed route for the busses. When registration closes we'll have a better number of the numbers for transporting and can go firm on the route and quantity of busses and schedule timings to get everyone to the events on time.
  • Q.   I'm hiring a car and won't know the registration details until I pick it up. Can I still access the barracks?

  • A.   Yes. You will need to show the hire car documentation at the gate when you enter along with your ID card(s) as registered when you register each adult
  • Q.   Can I bring kids / grandkids?

  • A.   Absolutely. Children are encouraged to attend the following activities:
    • the parade on Wednesday at the Barracks,
    • the Commemoration Service at the Cenotaph at ANZAC Park on The Strand on Thursday, and
    • the Open Day on Friday.
  • Q.   Can my wife attend the Regimental Dinner on Wednesday evening?

  • A.   The Regimental Dinner is for veterans only. It is the only event in the entire week that is without our better halves. It is the one event at which the soldiers of 1RAR (many of whom are veterans also) get to interact on a personal level with our Coral Veterans and other guests as invited by CO 1RAR. The Regimental Dinner in infantry battalions has been a longstanding tradition for good reason.
  • Q.   The example in the instructions uses an example invoice with ME as a prefix, but the invoice I got has Mx. What is it?

  • A.   It is ME and a four digit number after. It must be on your cheque or direct deposit or we can't acknowledge payment and send a receipt. We use different codes for different things. ME is for this EVENT and MR is for memberships, MO is for donations! Stick to ME, please.
