We were planning a big reunion in Townsville; however, this will not likely occur and will likely be replaced by a smaller, more local reunion. This meeting is to discuss what we'd like it to look like.
The main reason for scaling back is that the three battalion birthdays will be celebrated with a combined dinner for current serving members only on 3RAR's Parade Ground, and units will not be holding separate functions to mark the occasion. The 1RAR Association National Committee has discussed this, and we believe few veterans would travel to Townsville for the birthday where 1RAR was not involved, which is why most veterans come to Townsville for a reunion.
