1RAR Association Executive and Members,
I thought you may like to know, the battalion is contributing a sub-unit (C Coy) to the Townsville flood response we are currently experiencing. Our men and women will deploy shortly to set up assistance in an AO that will service Oonoonba, Idalia and Cluden areas. Tasks will be to sandbag homes and assist with evacuations if required. The battalion has also set up an evacuation centre in the transit and UTF areas of the unit. This is for Defence families in the event they are told to evacuate. I expect the task for C Coy will be 72h in duration. B Coy is the follow on sub-unit if tasks extend into next week.
