I have paid for a second edition to be printed because this year is the 25th Anniversary of 1 RAR Group's service in Somalia, serving members of 1 RAR should be given the opportunity to learn from and be inspired by the service of their forebears and veterans of 1 RAR Group's service in Somalia in 1993 should have a well-produced memento of their service. I have always been 'underwhelmed' by the production quality of Allen and Unwin's 1998 first edition (cover, paper, typeface and photo reproduction).
I have been delighted to collaborate with Echo Books to produce a handsome hardback that now has LCPL Shannon McAliney's photograph on the cover. I have been in contact with Shannon's mother, Liz Hann, who is delighted that her son is being acknowledged in this way.
