More Australian soldiers and veterans eligible for the MUC!

Published Thu 02 Feb 2017

In case you are not aware, 4 ID and 1st Cav Div have been awarded the Meritorious Unit Citation (MUC) for their time in Afghanistan at Kandahar Air Field (KAF). Therefore the 205th CAT and it's attachments including the FPE 1 and 2 platoons located at KAF are eligible to apply to wear the MUC.

The intent for this email is to inform you of the process to apply for the MUC and to get the information out to the soldiers easily and correctly using the FPE PHQ and 1st Bn CoC via all methods of communications due to the fact that Army DG Pers has stressed that bulk applications cannot be accepted and individuals MUST apply in their own right.

The qualification for the MUC is as follows:

That the soldier was deployed to KAF as part of or directly attached to the 205th CAT operation during the dates 25 June 14 to 10 June 15. This includes the FPE 1 and 2 located at KAF. Nominal rolls for both FPEs have been submitted IOT make it an easier process.

The application process

I believe that they will have to purchase their own MUCs.

Non-current serving soldiers

The process for the pers that have separated from defence should use the link below. Please note that there is a delay due to relocation of the National Archives of Australia and they should apply for medals after July 2017. A copy of the ADF DEPORD will have to be requested.

They will need to provide the same information as above but submit through Defence Honours & Awards.
